Traveling Field Installation Specialist

Location: Greenville, SC area preferred
Pay: $22–$27 per hour, depending on experience
Travel: 60–80% nationwide
Position Type: Long-term contract with potential for permanent hire

Take Your Field Installation Experience on the Road!

Have you worked installing cable systems, satellite dishes, electronic signs, outdoor equipment, or concrete foundations? Are you comfortable working at customer locations, figuring out installation requirements, and making sure a job gets completed correctly?

If you enjoy being out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk all day, this could be an excellent opportunity to put your experience to work in a different way.

We are seeking a Traveling Field Installation Specialist to support the rollout of new technology for a major global organization.

This position combines field installation knowledge, customer interaction, and job-site coordination. You won't be expected to perform every installation yourself. Instead, you'll help make sure each location is prepared, the right people are scheduled, and the equipment is installed and operating properly.

Extensive training will be provided on the specific equipment and installation process.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Travel to customer locations throughout the United States to evaluate sites and prepare for upcoming equipment installations.
  • Perform site surveys, take measurements, document existing conditions, and identify installation requirements.
  • Communicate with customers to determine equipment placement, site accessibility, scheduling, and installation needs.
  • Coordinate with installation contractors, technicians, and other field personnel to ensure work is completed as planned.
  • Be onsite during installations to help address questions, coordinate activities, and keep the process moving.
  • Assist with equipment startup, testing, and commissioning to verify that installations are completed successfully.
  • Document site visits, installation progress, outstanding items, and completed work.
  • Communicate with internal teams and customers regarding schedules, site readiness, and installation status.
  • Help resolve unexpected field issues by working with the appropriate technical teams and contractors.

Your Background Could Be a Great Fit If You've Worked In:

  • Cable television, broadband, fiber-optic, or satellite dish installation
  • Electronic signage, digital displays, or commercial sign installation
  • Concrete installation, site preparation, or outdoor construction
  • Security cameras, access control, or low-voltage equipment installation
  • Telecommunications equipment or wireless technology installation
  • Commercial equipment installation, maintenance, or field service
  • Electrical equipment installation or similar customer-site field work

You do not need experience in every area listed above. We are looking for someone who understands how field installations work and can apply that knowledge to a new type of equipment.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 1 year of relevant field installation, equipment deployment, or installation coordination experience.
  • Experience working at customer locations and understanding the steps involved in completing an installation.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage schedules, details, and documentation.
  • Comfort working around outdoor equipment, construction activities, and installation crews.
  • Ability to recognize potential installation issues and communicate them to the appropriate people.
  • Basic computer skills for email, scheduling, reports, and documentation.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
  • Willingness to learn new equipment, procedures, and technology.

Previous experience coordinating installation crews, performing site surveys, or assisting with equipment commissioning is especially valuable.

Travel and Work Schedule

This position involves approximately 60–80% travel, primarily during the workweek.

A typical assignment might involve flying to a customer location on Monday, performing site surveys or coordinating installations Tuesday and Wednesday, and returning home Wednesday or Thursday.

Most workdays are approximately eight hours, although occasional additional hours may be needed depending on travel and installation schedules.

Greenville, SC area candidates are preferred due to onboarding, training, and team coordination requirements.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Get paid to travel: Visit different customer locations across the country rather than reporting to the same job site every day.
  • Build on your installation experience: Use the skills you've developed in cable, signage, construction, telecommunications, or equipment installation.
  • Move beyond strictly hands-on installation: Gain experience coordinating installations, working with customers, and managing field activities.
  • Receive hands-on training: Learn the company's equipment and installation processes from experienced team members.
  • Work with an established global organization: Support the deployment of new technology as the program expands.
  • Long-term opportunity: Contract position with the possibility of permanent employment based on business needs and performance.
